Veterans Services

The Royal Canadian Legion Veterans Services Network serves Veterans, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, and their families, providing support, referrals, representation, advocacy and financial assistance free of charge, Legion member or not.

There are several ways for Branch Service Officers to assist Veterans. The first is by helping to fill out application forms for Veterans Affairs Canada benefits and  referring  Veterans to Command Service Officers for further assistance. Each Branch is also able to provide emergency financial assistance through their Poppy fund to Veterans and their families based on a financial means test.

Some of the other programs available to Veterans are:

  1. Veterans Transition Program
  2. BCIT Legion Military Skills Conversion
  3. Legion Housing
  4. Last Post Fund
  5. War Veterans Allowance
  6. Veterans Independence Program
  7. Legion Service Dogs
  8. Winch House (Emergency Medical Accommodation)

The first step is in identifying Veterans in the community who may need assistance, so if you know of someone in this situation please call Allyson Wagner, Branch 171 Service Officer at 250-245-7094. All inquiries are confidential.
